1. Who we are

Tesseract Trucking is a long-haul motor carrier headquartered in Chino, California (MC 1706986 · DOT 4361828). This policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through tesseracttrucking.com and any related services we provide to drivers and freight customers.

2. What we collect

We collect different categories of information depending on how you interact with us:

  • Visitors: page views and basic device/browser data via Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, plus IP address and user-agent for security and bot detection (Cloudflare Turnstile).
  • Shippers requesting quotes: name, company, email, phone, lane details (origin/destination, equipment, weight, pickup date), and any notes you include.
  • People using the contact form: name, optional company, email, phone, audience type, and message body.
  • Driver applicants: the FMCSA-required information for a driver qualification file under 49 CFR 391, including identity, contact details, residence history, CDL details, employment history, accident/violation disclosures, signed consents, and uploaded documents (license, medical card, W-9). We also capture the IP address and user agent of the device used to sign the application as part of the audit trail.
  • Active drivers: account email used for portal sign-in, settlement records, mileage rate, payment method/handle, uploaded receipts, and review status of those receipts.
  • Admins: email used for sign-in and basic account metadata.

3. Sources

We collect information directly from you when you submit a form or upload a document. We also receive limited information automatically (IP, user agent, page metrics). For driver applicants, we may obtain background-check, MVR, PSP, and DOT Clearinghouse records from third-party reporting agencies after you provide written consent — we don't collect those reports without your authorization.

4. How we use it

  • Respond to quote and contact inquiries.
  • Evaluate driver applications and run pre-employment screening with your authorization.
  • Onboard hired drivers and operate the driver portal (settlements, receipts, communications).
  • Run our business operations: dispatch, billing, settlement payment, recordkeeping.
  • Comply with FMCSA, DOT, FCRA, and other applicable laws.
  • Detect and prevent abuse (bot signups, fraud) — for example, via Cloudflare Turnstile.
  • Improve site performance and reliability via aggregate analytics and error reports.

5. Service providers

We use the following providers to operate the site and the driver portal. Each receives only the data needed for its function and is bound by their own contractual obligations:

  • Vercel — site hosting, runtime, analytics, speed insights.
  • Neon — managed Postgres database (drivers, applications, settlements, receipts).
  • Vercel Blob — private file storage for driver-uploaded documents and generated PDFs.
  • Resend — transactional email (magic-link login, application receipts, admin notifications).
  • Cloudflare — DNS, email routing for inbound mail, Turnstile bot protection.
  • Sentry — application error tracking (stack traces, request paths; we configure it not to capture form contents).

6. Sharing

We don't sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers above, with consumer reporting agencies you authorize during the driver-application process, with prior employers contacted under 49 CFR 391.23, with our insurers and legal/compliance advisors when needed, and with law enforcement or regulators where legally required.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a session cookie to keep authenticated drivers and admins signed into the portal, and Cloudflare/Vercel may set technical cookies for security and performance. We do not use third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies.

8. Retention

  • Quote and contact-form submissions: retained for ordinary business records (typically up to 3 years).
  • Driver applications, signed consents, and uploaded documents: retained for the period required by 49 CFR 391.51 (the driver qualification file), and longer where state or federal law requires.
  • Settlements and payment records: retained per IRS/DOT recordkeeping rules.
  • Analytics and error data: retained per the provider's default windows (Vercel Analytics ~30 days; Sentry ~90 days).

9. Security

We use TLS for all data in transit, encrypted storage at rest at our cloud providers, access controls and audit logging on the admin and driver portals, private (token-gated) blob storage for uploaded documents, and bot-protection on public forms. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as required by law.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the form linked at the bottom of this page; we'll respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

11. FCRA notices for driver applicants

Background reports we obtain about you are governed by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. The disclosure and authorization you sign during the driver application explains this in detail. You have the right to a free copy of any consumer report we obtain, to dispute inaccurate information directly with the reporting agency, and to be notified before we take adverse action based on a report.

12. Children

The site and driver portal are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

13. Changes

We may update this policy as our practices change or as the law requires. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated through the site or, for active drivers, by email.

14. Contact
